With the 2019 Masters beginning the following week this is a great opportunity to see Augusta National at its best under tournament conditions.
That comes as some reasonable surprise as — though the two events are not directly linked — CBS has owned the broadcasting rights at the Masters for decades. NBC Sports has just grabbed its piece of the Masters pie.
For those interested in the full set of Rules those have also been updated and are available online. The first-ever Augusta National Women’s Amateur is officially set for April of 2019. If you want a chance to see the historic event in person Augusta is offering tickets to the public.
NBC earning the rights is a bit ironic when considering the history of Masters broadcast rights. According to Scott Michaux a longtime Augusta Georgia sports writer NBC was once offered the broadcast rights to the Masters but the offer was mistakenly shipped to executives at CBS.
Harry Whitt 65 was playing in the event when he collapsed under cardiac arrest on the 15th hole of Indian Wells Golf Club. Whitt’s playing partners sprang into motion calling 911. According to this feature story they also called the pro shop where they reached assistant pro Bobby McCullough.
