Riboud believes that a French champion “at the same level of Tiger Woods” is what is needed to change the culture in France. There are no French players on the European Ryder Cup team and the only French golfer to have won a men’s major championship did so in 1907. Two French women have won LPGA majors in 2003 and 1967.
“I’ve been back and forth for a while about opening up about my sexuality. I thought that I didn’t need to come out because it doesn’t matter if anyone knows. But I remember how much other’s stories have helped me in my darkest times to have hope.
