The Rules of Golf have long been ridiculed for their strictness and ambiguity but this stands as a positive step for clarity on how the game is governed. Also included in the Player’s Edition are colored diagrams for further context and clarification.
“It sets a new standard in the way we write and interpret the Rules and is central to our efforts to ensure a healthy future for golf. We look forward to continuing that process in the years to come.”
That comes as some reasonable surprise as — though the two events are not directly linked — CBS has owned the broadcasting rights at the Masters for decades. NBC Sports has just grabbed its piece of the Masters pie.
His approach to commentary has drawn the ire of some pros including Tiger Woods who said Chamblee is good “for people who don’t play the game” with a grin at this year’s Players.

“From the project’s inception our one goal was to make the Rules easier to understand and apply for all golfers” said Thomas Pagel senior managing director of Governance for the USGA.
“So…I’m gay” he wrote. “Many of you may have already known that. I don’t expect everyone to understand or accept me. But please be gracious enough to not push your beliefs on me or anyone in the LGBTQ community. My hope is this post will inspire each and every one of you to be more empathetic and loving towards one another.
The report comes from reporter Alan Blondin who spoke with Whitt McCullough and another assistant pro at the course. “I did not feel a pulse on Mr. Whitt so I began and took over compressions at that point” McCullough told Blondin. “As time elapsed I did regain a pulse and was able to feel it and sustain it.”
As part of newest rollout the USGA and R&A combined to create a “Player’s Edition” to make the Rules easier and quicker to understand. The intuitive set of rules is grouped into 10 categories such as Bunkers and Putting Greens Lifting and Returning a Ball to Play Penalty Relief and more.
An emergency crew soon arrived and transported Whitt to a local hospital where he miraculously survived. According to story the chance of survival in a situation like that is roughly 2%. Just days later Whitt stopped by the golf course to meet the man who saved his life.
As a press release for the tournament notes “This is not a lottery contest sweepstakes or ‘give-away’ but rather a pre-qualification for those persons wishing to purchase tickets to the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championship.”
